Hot smoked herring with the head & insides removed, retaing the roe. Giving a delicate combination of roast and smoke flavours. Equally delicious hot or cold.
Recipe idea: Warm through gently, retain oils that are released, put warmed through herring to one side, put retained oils in a small pan and heat gently add 2 pinches of fresh taragon and mix in 3 tablespoons of double cream, bring to a simmer and pour over herring.
serve with new potatoes and vegtables of choice. |
